The Say & Spell games app is a fun way of helping children to practise recognising the initial sounds of words, and to recognise and spell some simple words. There are three different games on the app: Fishing, Memory Game and Word Builder. These will help your child to develop memory and concentration skills as well as helping them to recognise initial sounds and to spell some simple words.
Help Biff catch the words. 6 flashcards are shown on screen and a word is played. Find and tap on the word that starts with the letter that was sounded out by the app to add it to Biff’s bucket. Helps children to learn phonics sound by listening to an example and matching it with a written word.
Familiarise yourself with the words in the app, flipping through the all cards section. A microphone button lets you record your children so that they can listen back to the words as they’re reading them. Use the cards as a prompt for reading or spelling tests outside of the prescribed app games.
One of the words on the flashcards will be split into separate letters. An audio prompt will play. Rearrange the letters into an order to make the word that was read out. A more advanced game for children who are beginning to spell independently.
12 cards will be shown face down. Tap on the cards to help Biff, Chip and Kipper find all six matching pairs. This game reinforces reading skills through example audio.
